Better Retailing Festival & Awards
Championing excellence in the independent convenience channel
Brand new for 2024, the Better Retailing Festival & Awards is our learning, development and recognition platform for independent news and convenience retailers.
Better Retailing Festival
A day packed full of interactive workshops addressing key topics in convenience retail, inspirational speakers, product showcases and networking, the Better Retailing Festival will be the highlight of the retail calendar in 2024! We’ll bring retailers, suppliers and industry experts together on 14 October in Birmingham to share ideas, advice and insights to help grow profitable sales for all.
Better Retailing Awards
With 8 categories covering the core principles of retailing – from availability and display to marketing and customer service – the Better Retailing Awards are an opportunity for store owners across the country to gain the recognition they deserve. The simple entry process will ensure the awards are accessible to everyone, and our robust assessment and judging process will ensure we identify and recognise those retailers who are truly excelling.

RN 30 under Thirty
In 2021, we launched RN’s 30 under Thirty initiative, to shine a light on the rising stars working in independent retail, those who are making a real difference – to their communities, their customers or to their own bottom-line.
The campaign culminates in a celebratory event, which is a fantastic opportunity for the winning retailers and supporters to network and share ideas, as well as being the launch pad for the following year’s campaign.
Women in Convenience
Launched in 2022, Women in Convenience aims to recognise, support and empower the fantastic women working in independent stores across the UK and Ireland.
The annual programme consists of quarterly advice-led newsletters, regular content on the Women in Convenience hub on Better Retailing, as well as in RN and Retail Express, focusing on issues specific to female retailers, as well as highlighting and celebrating their achievements, and the flagship event which has grown in both size and quality since it’s inaugural year.
